Apricum is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Obermeier to its senior advisor team. Mr. Obermeier is an expert in waste-to-energy with over 25 years of experience in the planning and implementation of projects in Germany and abroad. Mr. Obermeier’s engagement represents a key strategic appointment for Apricum as it builds and strengthens its new industry focus on waste management and its waste-to-energy services for clients.
Mr. Obermeier has significant expertise in strategy, analysis, plant design and project development in the waste-to-energy sector, having planned waste treatment facilities, devised investment and M&A strategies, provided due diligence services and advised on marketing and business development, among others for a range of national and international companies in the waste and energy management sector.
Mr. Obermeier will work with Apricum on a project basis. He currently runs his own consulting company, heading up the business development of EEW Energy from Waste GmbH, Germany’s leading company for the production of power and heat from thermal waste treatment. Mr. Obermeier was formerly the CEO of Schwarze Pumpe GmbH and managing partner of ITU, the Engineering Association for Technical Environmental Protection. Mr. Obermeier was the president of DGAW (German association for waste management) for 18 years and is still their honorary president and is currently one of the vice chairmen of bvse (the German federal association for secondary raw material and waste disposal). He is also one of the few publicly sworn expert assessors for waste management in Germany.
Mr. Obermeier holds an engineering degree in technical environmental protection from the Technical University of Berlin.
