Apricum – The Cleantech Advisory acted as exclusive sell-side M&A advisor to its client AmpTank, a Finland-based energy storage developer of projects in the Nordic region in its recent sale of a majority stake of a 30 MW/60 MWh BESS project in Finland to the UB Renewable Energy Fund, part of wealth management firm United Bankers.
The BESS project will be located at transmission system operator (TSO) Fingrid’s Kellarijanka substation in Kemijarvi. Construction is due to begin in Spring 2025 and the project is planned to be in commercial operation in late 2025, participating mainly in the reserve market. Technology procurement for the project is still in progress.
AmpTank was established in 2021 by experienced energy trading professionals with the purpose of developing energy storage projects in the Nordic region. AmpTank has become one of the leading BESS developers in the Nordics with various projects either under construction or ready-to-build (RTB).
Activity in Finland’s grid-scale energy storage market has increased in recent months as investors seek to capitalize on high ancillary service prices and wide electricity price spreads in the intraday market.
